The primary focus of this site is to promote the town as both a viable vacation destination and an untapped source for new and expanding business.
It was originally set up to allow members to update their information, reducing the amount of upkeep while ensuring the site stays current. As such stringent safeguards were implemented that would allow multiple users to log in and make changes to their business profile while still allowing the chamber veto power over all changes.
As the website's purpose is to attract visitors from around the world, being located at the gateway to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, we opted for a more whimsical guestbook in the form of a guestmap.
There is boating weather received directly from NOAA for keeping avid boating and kayaking enthusiast current on the latest conditions.
With a rotating header/logo featuring some of the sights of the area, (no flash required) and a map of member businesses, this site helps to bring public awareness for all the town has to offer.
